I didnt have to do this but I did. I wanted to completely redesign the character in the story so that I could have almost a complete fresh start.

I found myself constantly returning to an illustration I had done during inktober last year where I just very much liked the character I had drawn.

And I went that route in the end as I wasn't hugely keen on any of the previous character designs. So I made these character sheets to help me with expressions and poses when I get to the animation pipeline (I've been drawing her with teeth as I animate though... Don't worry...). I am the happiest with this design out of all of them so far, I think she's a good mix of hard and soft shapes and I'm pleased with the tonal balance. Plus I feel like I got a lot of emotion into her face.

This is a piece of early concept art from when I was picking the style and deciding if i liked this character in the film. You can see the influence of old cinema in the finishes. I added lines and blotches plus the dark gradient along the bottom to make it reminiscent of old film stock.

The secondary character is mostly a silhouette so I haven't felt the need to design her as such.
