Animatics and references

Following the scripting I jumped straight into the animatics and started filming references. I filmed so many that I could have just about made a live action version of the film. Just about. I think I got tired and missed the odd shot or two out.
WARNING! REFERENCES ARE NOT PRETTY!
This is very rough and originally I with the best will in the world it was a waste of my time to create more in depth animatic. Which is honestly a shame because I had really wanted to stick to a strict pipeline of a rough and a clean up before keyframing and then animating. But as it stands I'm going to have to skip the cleaned up animatic and head straight for keyframing.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the timing in this. I usually struggle with timings because I can't quite eyeball things right and I tend to compensate too much one way or another but for this one I spent a lot of time moving along side the animatic as I was timing it out to make sure the actions would take about the same time to perform. It was going well until I decided to make some references for myself. I apologies for the state of myself making these. I started looking less terrible and then noticed that my hair got in the way because it's far longer than my characters and I actually really needed to see her neck and ears.
When it came to adding the references it became apparent that something needed retimed. But actually I brought the reference clips closer in time to the animatic because rewatching the references I was struck with how slow they were. It didnt look very realistic but some of my facial expressions might be useful. I'm not going to lie, I need to work on my acting skills because I am not happy with these. But that leads us to the animation part woo!
